    Registering for Classes
    High School Graduation Requirements

  • Graduation Status: make sure all credits have been earned. See your counselor for credit recovery if you lost 1-2 credits in a course needed for graduation.
  • Apply to 4 year Universities/Colleges: make a list of colleges with your majors
    Apply early and within the Filing Periods:
    CSU: October 1st – November 30th (www.csumentor.edu)); Helpline: 1-800-468-6927
  • UC: November 1st – November 30th ( www.ucop.edu/pathways); Helpline: 1-800-523-2048
  • Private/Trade/Out of State: deadlines vary – check online
  • Write an outstanding personal statement/essay on College Applications. (for UC application ideas, visit http://www.admissions.ucsb.edu/Pdf/PersonalStatement.pdf ).
  • Make the most of personal references: ask people who know you; prepare a neat and legible reference form; and give your references plenty of time to write an outstanding recommendation on your behalf (at least 2 weeks). For UC and Private Colleges.
  • Keep a copy of all your application materials in a file for EACH college.
  • Have your SAT I Reasoning (and SAT II Subject tests for UC. If taking Math, must be level 2) OR ACT (include Writing for UC) scores sent to the schools to which you’ve applied. If necessary, seniors may take/re-take the college entrance exams on October, November, or December dates.
  • NCAA or NAIA: athletes need to update their profile online and have official transcripts and college entrance test results sent to NCAA, www.eligibilitycenter.org (Code 9999) or NEW THIS YEAR: NAIA (Code 9876). NAIA athletes must register this year (www.PlayNAIA.org).
  • EAP (Early Assessment Program) Results are available at www.collegeEAP.org. Placement test requirements for CSU and Community College will be waived if student earns EAP Exempt status.
  • Apply to 2 year College: Filing Period begins March 1st, 2. Take college placement exams in English and Math at chosen Community College (www.cccco.edu) or Placement Exam Fieldtrip in May; 3. Meet with CC Counselor.
  • OTHER REMINDERS:
    • For assistance with the CSU system/application, sign up in Guidance Office to meet with our Fullerton Rep.
    • Use ADVANCE! for Free help with University/College applications and FAFSA forms. For appointment, CALL (562) 691-2117
    • Visit the University/College campuses that you applied to or will be attending. Take a tour, ask questions and “get a feel” for the atmosphere where you will be spending the next 4-5 years.
    • Request final, official transcripts from Mrs. Chamberlain (Room 11) to be sent to the college you’ll be attending.
    • Check your University email for all communication, including deadlines, admission status and updates.
